Shaw Wines Estate Rosé 2022

An interesting pair of varieties thrown together for this Rosé but it works. A little darker in the glass with a cranberry juice tinge, it's a ready partner for a casual barbecue.

An interesting observation I have heard around the traps from some punters is that a darker Rosé means that it is sweeter. Not so. The colour is determined by the amount of contact the juice has with the skins. For some wines it's a little more than an hour or two, for others it's much more. In this case, it was six hours.

Bone dry, this is a blend of Shiraz and Malbec (60/40). Stewed rhubarb, dried red currants, strawberries with a lemon sherbet tang on close. It's an easy drinking wine without the flashing lights. It rolls about with little fuss yet has enough interest to keep you in the hunt. Have with food and you're set.

Drink now.
