Dr Plonk The Good Doctor's Tonic 2014

The Good Doctor knows best. A muscular wine busting out with Tannat leading the charge, there is an elegance about its carry that I find irresistible. I loved the 2012 release and my sentiments haven't changed with this 2014.

Time has been its friend and these big varieties have seemingly broken bread and found some equilibrium. Tannat, Cabernet and Shiraz come together and are bold and dense yet they possess an undeniable pleasure factor. Scents of cedar and sweet rum 'n' raisin rise up early before black fruits, earthy things, dark chocolate and licorice get you in the mood. Rolling around the mouth like melted chocolate, its presence draws you in for considered thought. Fat brick dust tannins dry out ever so slowly delivering a moreish factor. The presence, the feel and the length are just brilliant.

Drinking superbly now, it will continue to age gracefully for many years yet.
