It's great to see Bobar come across the tasting bench. I've only ever had their Gamay previously which was bought on recommendation (note, it was superb!). Sunshine in a glass, this Chardonnay doesn't miss a beat. A smart expression of the variety and then some.
Straw and golden rays of morning light in appearance, I could get mega comfortable with this. It's layered and the delicious factor is sky-high. White peach, golden apple, vanilla custard and some ginger spice is just the start. Whipped butter, lemon juice and old school lemonade plus some honeyed tones add to the detail. The textural presence reaches long and wide leaving a Mediterranean tonic like feel in its wake. In a time when many Yarra Valley Chardonnays are walking down the lean and pristine road, the little bit of volume, minerally drive and engaging texture of this Bobar are adored by this taster at least.
