Wild Game Wines Cellar Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Wild Game Cabernets are proven to age nicely as evidenced by the Duke Cabernet 2012 and 2014 tasted in recent years. This more expensive Cellar Reserve isn't in the same class though and doesn't show the vibrance and balance of its lesser-priced siblings.

With a brown and mud brick hue, this was given every chance to shine with a good decant. It appeared tired and past its peak which was a surprise, I must admit.
Caramel, leather, it's very much savoury driven. Christmas cake and soy add interest with drying and sapping tannins to close. Given the opportunity, I'd run to The Duke 2012 and 2014 particularly.
