Muscular and full-bodied, this is a sturdy McLaren Vale Shiraz from Curtis Family Vineyards.
Sure, it's a bit blustery with a chunk of oak in the midst but there are plenty of ticks in the boxes at the same time.
Dense with ink staining fruit coats the palate courtesy of cherry cola, dark plums and mulberries. It rolls about with a good dose of charisma. Despite being a 2021, the acid is still a bit firm even after a couple of days tasting, but I suspect that time will be its friend. An elongated finish highlighted by baking spices does a good job to add some polish but its best you hold or give this a good decant.
