What a treat this is from Purple Hands. From ancestor vines grown in the south of the Barossa, let this Planta Circa Cabernet Sauvignon breathe and it will reward in spades.
50% saw new French oak where it sat on lees for six months before being racked to spend another nine months.
A wine layered with detail, I was captivated early on by licorice, black olive tapenade, blackberries and blackcurrant paste. Dried olive leaf, thyme and sage fold through with some vanilla and dark chocolate nuances. Rounded edges present an appealing shape, the length lands the killer blow. Seemingly endless, the grainy tannin profile offers some chew and plenty to ponder.
Give it a decant to drink now but you can comfortably sit on this excellent expression of Barossa Cabernet for many years to come.
