For history buffs, Isolde is a name taken from the medieval romance based on Celtic legend.
A blend of Eden Valley and Ebenezer fruit (50/50), it sees 20% new tight grain French oak for 24 months.
A riot of blackberries, blackcurrants and blueberry paste hurl themselves at you on opening. Roasted peppers, dark chocolate, licorice, black olives and that flciker of Cabernet leafiness slide in underneath with a touch of spice. It's a wine that reaches long and coats the palate generously and the oak shows some muscle but it's not overbearing. Overall, this is an easy recommendation - great stuff!
Drink to eight years.
