The best Sauvignon Blanc in Australia? I think so. For 35 bucks, this Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is a steal.
From close-planted vines (1.5m x 1.5m) on Terra Rossa soil in the Wrattonbully region, the fruit was whole bunch pressed and fermented in a mix of barrel and stainless steel parcels that both sat on full lees.
An attractive opening is highlighted by pineapple sage, Meyer lemons, white fleshed stonefruit and glace pineapple. Cut herbs, grapefruit and a little almond nuttiness add further interest and delight. Dangerously delicious with a moreish texture that has a sencha feel about it, that delicate creamy drive further adds to the composed presence. The vibrant and well handled acidity caps off an excellent drink that is great buying for the asking price.
