"Refreshingly fun" are the words emblazoned on the back label of this La Luna Pinot Gris, but I'm curious as to why it is a current release for this style of wine from 2022. All that aside, it's a pretty tidy wine.
Pinot Gris is often fresh and alive but I see this possesses a little more palate weight. Perhaps the sands of time have had their way and built some more presence through the wine? And it's something I don't mind to be honest.
Pears, white fleshed peaches, melon and green apple, there is an ever so fine dab of toffee apple sweetness. A little cut herb with a fine textural rub through the core creates another level of interest. Fine cinnamon and ginger spices see out the finish with cleaning acidity having the last word.
Worthy of a day at the pool, a picnic or a day at the beach, this has plenty of crowd pleasing appeal. Well done.
Drink now.
