A Shiraz Pinot Noir blend with a slippery slurpability, you could be forgiven for getting comfortable with this release from the Hunter Valley's Alter Wines.
Quite savoury, although the red fruit plays a respectable supporting role. Pan juices, cured meats, dried red flowers and barbecue chip spices lead the way. A lengthy finish rides the wave of this medium-bodied blend culminating with a dusty and drying finish. If anything, the action on the mid-palate stops a bit short and pulls it back a notch or two. Above all, this is a more than respectable drink.
