Ravens Croft Pinotage 2015

2014 label shown
There's only a couple of Pinotage wines produced in Australia. A South African variety, it's no surprise South African born Mark Ravenscroft brought a little piece of his homeland to Australia when he put this in the Granite Belt dirt. Fab wine.

Pinotage is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsaut.

Only a small amount is produced each year from ten year old vines and it is sold in quick time too.

Pretty florals sit on the red fruit spectrum - lots of red snakes and strawberries too. A shake of pepper, the fruit rolls through the mouth softly and without much effort. There's a savoury fleck on exit calling for another sip. Layers of fruit and soft spice combine beautifully adding depth to the mid palate leading to a long and delicate finish.

Very slurpable. Very moreish.
