Finesse and delicacy are the buzzwords that skip around as I taste this Oakridge Blanc de Blancs.
Calm, considered and uber sophisticated, it was fermented in the bottle and aged on lees for five years and eight months prior to disgorging in July 2024.
Absolutely delicious, the length and texture are captivating. Scents of oatmeal, oyster shell and vanilla cream get the juices flowing with fine beads of fizz rising effortlessly to the surface. Apples and grapefruit waltz alongside lemon zest and white fleshed stonefruit. The mouth is coated with flavour and yeasty, sourdough complexity. Brioche and cashews add further detail with a subtle lemony tang wrapping itself around the finish. This is a sparkling wine with tremendous gravitas - what a pearler!
