Sorby Adams The Parish Hall St Boniface Shiraz 2022

A Barossa Shiraz with a great feel and presence, of the three Parish Hall wines from Sorby Adams, this was my preferred.

The Parish Hall range from Sorby Adams is a tribute to Simon's great uncle, Keith, who served as the Anglican Parish Minister in the Barossa from 1957 to 1960. During this time, he guided the region’s five Parish Halls in their daily life.

The St Boniface Parish was established in Nuriootpa, with the fruit for this Shiraz sourced from Kalimna and Ebenezer in the northern Barossa. The other two wines in the Parish Hall range are the St Hugh's from the Eastern Barossa and St Aidan's from the south.

The St Boniface sees 24 months in American Oak. It's worth noting the different oak regimes applied to each of these Parish Hall wines.

Dark plums, blackberries, dark chocolate and choc dipped cherries set the scene. The flow and depth of the fruit is gravitating, offering a terrific mouthfeel and presence. The oak imparts cedar and shimmers of coconut husk with baking spices and a sprinkling of black pepper. Fine integrated tannins lead to a long and lacy finish. A beautiful wine, but I recommend decanting if enjoying now.
