The Parish Hall range from Sorby Adams is a tribute to Simon's great uncle, Keith, who served as the Anglican Parish Minister in the Barossa from 1957 to 1960. During this time, he guided the region’s five Parish Halls in their daily life.
The St Aidan's Parish was established in Tanunda, with the fruit for this Shiraz sourced from Bethany and Rowland Flat in the southern Barossa. The other two wines in the Parish Hall range are the St Hugh's from the eastern Barossa and St Boniface from the north.
It opens with cherry liqueur, blackberries and dark plums. Five spice works its way into the frame along with woodsy and baking spices. Seeing 24 months of French and American oak, it's a wine of great length and shape. Its easy-going nature demonstrates shades of sophistication but still walks with a workman-like zeal. The clay soils from the south show their hand with silty and grippy tannins that draw out to a sustained finish. Over a few days of tasting, this Parish Hall Shiraz grew into its shoes the most.
