An excellent Nebbiolo from where you'd never guess. Damn, I just want to drain the bottle, and perhaps I did.
From small Geographe producer Vineyard 28, this made me sit bolt upright. What a beacon of joy and sheer delight this is!
Dried red petals, cherry pips, strawberries, rhubarb and a lick of orange peel, this wine is buoyant yet so varietal. A crushed rock minerality sits at the core - a consistent trait for many of the wines from Geographe that I have sampled. The fruit glides through the mouth as earthy things, tea leaves and delicate exotic spices float effortlessly to an elongated finish. Those powdery tannins are in the zone - so Nebbiolo. A wine with severe moreishness, this is right in the slot, I dare you to stop at one glass. Bravo!
