Hello Zinfandel. It's been a while. Admittedly, there isn't all that much of it around the place in Australia, but it's nice to be reacquainted nonetheless. What a tidy example we have here.
A powerful wine as you'd expect, it's meaty with baking chocolate, spiced plums and a little Christmas cake thing going on. Broad through the mouth, dark cherries and cherry pips whip up a frenzy with a faint whisper of dried strawberry in the background. There is a terrific even-handedness about its flow which is certainly a feature. The tannin profile is tense and the acidity has an energetic zeal. A most enjoyable drink, this is really good gear.
