Thomas Wines DJV Shiraz 2017

There's just something I find alluring about this wine. It's been that case for a number of years now. DJV is Hunter Valley Shiraz co-fermented with Semillon verjuice (6%).

Attractive scents of blue fruits plus subtle hints of violets get things underway. Vibrant red fruits leap out of the glass too. On the lighter side of medium bodied, there's a soft and silky feel to the fruit as it moves through the mouth at a leisurely pace. Verjuice is used to balance out the acidity giving the fruit a lift at the same time. Superfine spices walk hand in hand with that soft fruit. Give it time to settle in your glass or a little time in the decanter and you're in business. It was definitely in a neat groove on day two of tasting.

Drink now to eight years.
