A frisky number early that needed a little air to cool its heels.
From vines planted in 1976, there's no doubting the quality of the fruit. Aromas of sage, cloves, cedar, tilled black earth and dark chocolate all waltz around a core of dense plum and berry fruit. You get a sense it is leaving something in reserve before the cedar gathers some momentum through the mouth. Dense and persistent, that savoury edge comes courtesy of some wild bunch fermentation. It grew on me.
