Oliver's Taranga Mencia 2016

This my friends is a great intro to the Spanish variety Mencia. If you haven't heard of it nor tasted it, best you get on the pleasure train.

There's only a handful of Mencia in Australia, and two come from McLaren Vale - the vineyards less than one kilometre away from one another.

Corrina Wright at Oliver's Taranga has previously made Rosé with hers but 2016 sees the full shebang stepping out. And just quietly, I'm pumped she put this out there - super smart wine right here.

Deliberately made with minimal oak, the fruit sings. Juicy as, purple florals and even little blue flowers are met by supple and soft purple fruit. Satisfying and delicate, it rolls around the mouth like melted chocolate. Effortless.

There's not many samples that come through that I see through to the end. This one I did and gee I wish it didn't end.

Drink now to five years.
