Ballandean Estate Late Harvest Viognier 2016

Something a little new from Ballandean Estate. Late Harvest Sylvaner is normally their 'thing' when it comes to dessert style wines, but this Late Harvest Viognier now sits nicely in the range.

Picked at 18 Baume, it was iced once - frozen water crystals are removed leaving highly concentrated sugars behind.

Aromas of sweet custard, honeysuckle and sweet poached pear jump from the glass.

Apricot fruit moves to honeysuckle. A charming touch of ginger spice adds another layer of interest. The mouth is coated generously yet it certainly isn't overly sweet as some Late Harvest wines can be.

A perfect finish for dinner - citrus tart a red hot go.
