The Alexander Munro range is released at five years. The fruit for this Semillon comes from the Hunter Valley's famed Braemore vineyard.
Curious aromas of gooseberry and cut capsicum, there's a leafy character to the fruit too. I can't get it out of my head that perhaps this is just a little under ripe. There's a trail of greenness that runs through the wine. Though still a pup, there is clearly longevity here.
As it moves into an aging phase, waxy characters are starting to show their hand. This mid palate lies a bit thin though the finish ticks away nicely. Time will never beat this wine. Keep it in a dark place for another few years before you'll see it's better side.
