The 2021 Estate Chardonnay release is concentrated and generous. One of those sip slow wines, there is plenty to ponder. Friday after a long week or Sunday afternoons are best to whisk you away.
White peaches, butterscotch, caramel and grilled figs, roasted cashews slide in late. Mouthfilling, it's as though a layer of interest is painted across the tongue. Vanilla and creamy oak overplay their hand a little too much and take a notch or two off for now. It just needs a little more bottle age to mesh. But it will, and for those who are patient, this will reward in spades in years to come. But with a glass in my hand as the sunsets, it's just me and a bag of crackling and that's just perfect.
