I know a number of people who enjoy snuggling up to a glass of Pinot on the lounge in the cooler months. This release from Balgownie Estate is one I'd happily recommend for you to latch onto.
The fruit is grown on the Melba vineyard in the Yarra Valley, made with 30% whole bunches and sees nine months in French barriques and puncheons.
A medley of dark cherries, plums and woodsy spices, some earthiness and dried leaves add delicious savoury touches. There is some richness through the mid-palate but it's that engaging persona that has me captivated. Fine spices roll along on a persistent finish. Slowly drying out, this is a warming embrace in a glass. I'll see you on the lounge.
