With no 2020 release, it seems this wine has had a facelift. No more Shiraz by name but now a Syrah. It's a good drink but it's not as elegant as you may expect with the Syrah style.
Scents of char and smoked meats early, it thins out in the mouth. Quite skeletal for a Syrah, but Mornington Peninsula is more known for Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Tease out some dark fruit, black earth and dark chocolate finishing with dark cocoa like tannins. It's quite spicy too. The fingerprints of Montalto quality are there but I'm not head over heels.
Drink to eight years.
