I first saw this Dam Block when it was released a couple of years ago. At the time, it was finally deemed good enough to stand on its own two feet rather than being blended away as was the case previously. Good to see it back once more - it's a peach.
Gorgeous aromas skip about. Energetic and pretty with purple flowers, fresh boysenberries and kicks of earth. Shades of dark chocolate and cedar add interest too.
The fruit is dense, mouth-filling and moreish - that density is what I love about it. Soft spices give your mouth a warming embrace. Firmish tannins walk with a clenched fist but eased up on the second day of tasting - aging won't be a problem. A bigger Hunter Shiraz demanding attention.
