Superb Hunter Valley Shiraz. Whether it be the pretty scents, seamless fruit or stylish delivery, here's another Elenay sure to sell out in quick time.
Four of Andrew Thomas' sites are blended to come up with this release: Sweetwater (53%), Kiss (27%), Belford (13%) and Dam Block (7%). Almost 50% new French oak was used.
What I adore about these Thomas Wines 2017 releases is the ease at which they glide through the mouth. Such a sleek presence and curvacious sophistication.
Purple flower aromas are highlighted by violets and blue fruits. Faint scents of caramel chime in too. Oak can be seen but certainly doesn't detract. Gorgeously smooth, there's a tension evident though carefully awaiting its time to pounce - and that won't be anytime soon - this is a keeper. After a couple of days of tasting, it showed its best with dark berries and superfine spices meshing together beautifully. Gorgeous delivery, it's a magic carpet ride of pleasure with delicate pillows of tannin gently caressing the palate. Take a bow Mr Thomas.
Drink 2020 to as long as you want.
