Wild Game The Countess Sparkling Pinot Gris 2019

Sparkling Pinot Gris - I can't say I've had one before. Blush in appearance, the fruit is sourced from Mt Gambier, south of Wild Game's Coonawarra home.

When poured, it was a hive of activity with fizz everywhere. But just like that, it seemed the fun police arrived and extinguished the party atmosphere. A mere trickle of bubbles then followed. Perhaps it is better described as a Pinot Gris spritz than a sparkling? Also worth noting is the screw cap seal rather than cork usually seen with sparkling wines.

It's an easy drink to kick back with. Poached pear and some florals are consistent with the variety. Faint scents of honey skip about too. Red apple skin frames a textured and creamy mouthfeel. Simple pleasures can be found here.
