A brilliant Zinfandel!
Lévrier means "greyhound" in French. Jo Irvine has a deep love for the breed and has been surrounded by them for much of her life. The artwork on the labels is a tribute to them and those images are stunning.
This Zinfandel is from Barossa and Eden Valley sites and it saw 24 months in new French oak before 12 months in bottle. An exquisite wine I must say.
A winter onesie in a glass perhaps? You could easily slip into it and get comfy. A Zinfandel that's rich and bold, mouthfilling and sturdy, yet there's a charismatic charm about it too. Berry pie, plum compote and a slight nuttiness. Dry herbs and puffs of dusty earth unfurl ever so gradually. Voluptuous tannins fill the mouth and finish dry and puckering. A long and moreish finish just hangs well beyond a minute. Best served from a decanter after its had a chance to relax.
