Ever-reliable, this Soumah Hexham Vineyard Viognier rarely misses a beat.
First produced in 2010, the fruit was hand-picked, whole bunch pressed and wild yeast fermented in seasoned French oak.
I'm hooked immediately by the mazipan, fresh apricots and apricot kernels. Add some white fleshed stone fruit, raw cashews and a creamy drive before a shimmer of lemon acidity cuts a neat course through the mid-palate. Slivers of ginger have the last word along with a fine chalky texture.
A solid release as ever. Well played.
Drink to five years.
