A drink now style, this Yelland & Papps YP Shiraz oozes anything from casual weekend catch-ups to mid-week pizza night. Unpretentious, it's a great example of Barossa Shiraz.
A blend of three fruit parcels, the Shiraz that finds itself in this wine was declassified from the Single Vineyard wines.
Wild fermented and seeing time in seasoned French oak, it kicks off with morello cherries, blackberries, red apple skin, red plums, mulberry compote and even a suggestion of red frogs. An array of exotic spices plus some black pepper flank the edges, but there is no denying its fresh and spritely disposition as it skips along with plenty of energy in its stride.
A great wine to share liberally, it's definitely for drinking not thinking.
Drink to three years.
