Yelland and Papps Limited Cuvée Grenache 2024

Oh my. What a sheer delight this is. But don't rush. Pour a glass, or decant, and patiently watch the magic unfurl. This Yelland & Papps Limited Cuvée Grenache is all about the handling and what a beauty it is.

Delicately floating on a cloud, this is a red carpet ride through the pleasure zone. From the Barossa sub-region of Marananga, these bush vines were planted in 1935.

Medium bodied and highlighted by whole bunch savouriness, I want to dive in with pike.

Curious scents of pretzels and hazelnuts skip from the glass early, but they move on just as quickly. And then the magic happens. Aromas of violets, a little lavender and ripe raspberries build that gorgeous aroma profile. Dark cherries, red currants, squishy blueberries and boysenberries are highlights with red apple peel and orange peel sliding in. Add some dark chocolate nibs, there is a suggestion of milk chocolate creaminess that adds to the textural detail. A cordon of juicy and squishy raspberries runs throughout, not only seducing but also demanding another sip. The palate is brushed with delicately poised fruit and parcelled up by superfine earthy and baking spices.

Tasted over four days, the class was apparent and all I wanted was more. A supreme exhibition of Grenache with a delicate touch and desire to express site.
