Some musings while I sit at a wine bar tucked away down a laneway in Siena. For €6 a glass, this was a very tidy drink as I soaked up the local atmosphere.
Expressive and floral, this has more desire to impress aromatically than some other Vermentinos tasted while on my Italian sojourn.
Highlighted by white peach, fresh pears, lemon juice and zest with a sea spray tease, it's delightful, approachable and beautiful drinking. A dash of cinnamon spice curls around the mouth capping off a very tidy drink. The sun setting creates beautiful colours and shades throughout the laneways and the village, providing an ideal setting to enjoy a glass or two.
