A powerful yet poised wine with great drive and balance, this is my first look at the Albarossa variety courtesy of Castello di Neive.
A lesser-known Piedmontese variety, it opens with rich dark chocolate and dense berry fruit that draws you into the deeply concentrated and confident structured palate. Despite lugging some weight, it carries itself with poise. Vibrant acidity brings energy and finesse, and with five years already under its belt, ageing this for several years to come won't be an issue. In all, this is a great example that drinkability and complexity don't have to be at odds. Well played.
