It's a wine that is a little deceptive with its bold ruby appearance, yet it's not a blockbuster to taste. I've enjoyed seeing the evolution of this wine in recent years and I suspect its variation reflects the vintage conditions.
This 2024 presents with cerise hues and dives into a pool of blackberries, dark cherries and ripples of earthiness. Spiced plums and compote fold in with a touch of black pepper building momentum on a respectable finish. Dusty tannins speak of the variety's origin with a drying finish reinforcing its case for food friendliness. Throw a tomato based pasta dish, risotto or pork at it and you're set.
Drink to five years.
