A refined and intense Barbaresco, this Classico stands as the foundation of the Castello di Neive portfolio. The cellar door experience was outstanding, and the wines impressed throughout a comprehensive tasting. This is a remarkable expression.
50-60k bottles are produced each year of this vineyard blend. Coming from four vineyards, 50% comes from the revered Santa Stefano site. The shape, presence and fluidity of all elements was striking. A heady mix of black fruits, tar and dried rose petals open the account and seduce. The palate is etched with class as some eucalypt and dark fruit reach long. Fine powdery tannins are persistent and give the impression that they are sprayed on. Winemaker Claudio Roggero beams as we discuss this wine - he adores it so much and what it stands for. This is worthy of such pride, it's an excellent wine.
