A blend of several Pinot Noir parcels, this is a great example of the sum of the parts. Tasted alongside the Colleen's Paddock Single Vineyard 2020, I preferred this deluxe.
Harvested from four sites, clone freaks would be curious to know that this is 97% MV6 planted in 1994. A range of 500L, 350L and 228L (10% new) French oak was employed to ensure the fruit shines. And it does.
Expressive with a fabulous interplay between the fruit and savoury nuances, the sheer pleasure and drinkability have me leaning in and entranced.
Red cherries, dark cherries, strawberries, orange peel and pine needles, there is a tilled earth and black tea savoury presence that just nails the groove. Elegant spices extend through the mouth reaching long on a persistent and elongated finish. It's an excellent Yarra Valley Pinot Noir.
