d’Arenberg Laughing Magpie Shiraz Viognier 2015
I was a huge fan of the 2014 Laughing Magpie, however, this release is a couple of pegs back.
There's plenty of interest and fruit but it seems raspier than expected. Dark plums and dark cherries are vivid but some sandpaper needed to smooth out the edges (no need to apply here thanks David Warner). Tilled earth and pencil shavings cling to a long, dusty and dry finish.
Drink now to eight years.
Region: Hunter Valley
