This is a ripping barbecue wine. There is enough body to match a range of food yet there is a delightful acid crunch to bolster its refreshment factor. Winning!
No two Indomitus Rosa wines are the same. This release is a Cabernet and Shiraz blend (50/50) from Canberra and the Hilltops respectively, whereas the 2022 release was a Nebbiolo and Sangiovese blend. Winemaker Matt Burton's quest to challenge winemaking norms with this label continues in earnest.
An inviting wine, think stewed apple and rhubarb, the type you'd find in a pie or crumble. Red currants, red apple skin and delicate spices run long leaving a lasting impression. Wonderfully textural, the 12 hours on skins playing its part. There is a sheet of super fine tannins that roll on and on which highlights its food partnering creditials. And did I mention that crunch?! Smart gear.
