Tyrrell's Blanc de Blancs 2015

Hello to the inaugural release of the Tyrrell's Blanc de Blancs and what a pristine beauty it is. From the alluvial soils of the Casuarina block which sits just off Hermitage Road and is surrounded by numerous famed vineyards, this is a superb wine. I keep coming back to its fine-boned purity - winning!

As Bruce Tyrrell says, "The Hunter Valley always produces grapes that are flavour ripe at higher acids and lower pHs and with the ability to live."

This new release has spent eight years on lees before being disgorged in June 2023 with the disgorging liquor house made using 23 year old Vat 47 stock and ten year old brandy spirit.

A fabulous wine, it possesses a detailed presence through the mouth with a fine creaminess etched into its fabric. With a fine lemony drive and tart green apple riding on its coattails, delicate brioche and biscuity feels muse with those glorious lemon juice and lemon rind highlights. Almonds and almond meal add a veneer of nuttiness and the acidity has a fine porcelain-like snap to it. Long, inviting and supremely delicious, this is excellent drinking that is ready to toast any occasion.
