An excellent Coonawarra Cabernet, this Menzies 2019 was absolutely humming after a couple of days. Give it the time it deserves in a decanter for now or in the cellar for later and you'll be rewarded deluxe.
It is no secret that the best of the Menzies vineyard fruit finds its way into The Caley so you are certainly not missing out here at the price point.
Blackberries, blackcurrants, dried purple flowers, black olives and olive leaf, grilled peppers, dusty earth, tar, dried herbs - woah! What an entrance! Sheets of detail and interest are pulled back with ease as dark chocolate and a thread of blackcurrant jubes slowly reveal themselves. Powdery and dusty tannins are drying with some puckering appeal and cap off this wine in splendid fashion. Polished and precise, there is no denying the aging potential of these Menzies releases. First class quality Cabernet.
