Hello to this late harvest Sauvignon Blanc. It's been a while since I have seen one, to be honest. It's a style of wine that has dipped in popularity, but it's good to see some offerings are still out and about. This release from Terre à Terre is quality.
60% of the fruit was harvested late with 35% shrivelled fruit and 5% botrytis. Whole bunch pressed to stainless steel, fermentation was stopped at 124g/L residual sugar.
Not what I expected, there is some depth and real interest here - well played. Based on the appearance, I suspected it may be a little lighter, but how wrong was I? Ribbons of flavour are thick and silky, just picture liquid parpadelle - magic! Marmalade, candied lemons, passionfruit and sweet apple cordial build a luxurious flavour profile. It's fresh and cleansing and ready to get to work for that post-meal sip. The acid is bright and well placed without overplaying its hand. Great stuff!
Drink to five years.
