Vineyard 28 Fiano 2025

Geographe's Vineyard 28 has a focus on Italian varieties. They produce a tidy Arneis and complementing that white is this Fiano.

Wild yeast fermented and on lees in seasoned French oak for three months, it opens with citrus blossom, lemon sherbet and white flower aromas. Lemons and white fleshed stonefruit cascade through the mouth with a salty detail along with a river stone minerality. The latter two characteristics are something I've noted when looking at a bracket of white wines from the Geographe region. The fruit is pinned to the mid-palate and I just hoped that it would venture to the perimeter and follow through to the back palate a little more. A tonic like texture is a feature before a firmish acidity kicks in. This would go well with shell fish or grilled seafood.
