Made with 30% whole bunches, The Wizard Pinot Noir from Holm Oak is a wine that has good bones and structure.
It made a strong impression on opening, but in the ensuing days, I felt the momentum didn't follow through. Dark cherries and red cherries open the account with strawberries, blood orange, twigs, tilled earth and cedar. A captivating mushroom broth trait slides in, too. But rather than building, I felt these sheered off a touch. It's still tense with good acidity, but I was left wishing that the whole package would elevate over a few days of tasting.
