From a late ripening vintage, those with warmer sites thrived, and this Hoffman DV Shiraz from Hayes Family Wines certainly shows its pedigree.
It possesses more lift than the 2022 release; the wet, cooler year certainly played its hand. Blue fruits are more prominent with a basket full of blackberries and mulberries providing plenty of palate-staining depth. Cola and licorice add savoury impact along with well-positioned oak, as fine spices and crushed peppercorns are scattered about. The structure and shape are in fine order and I can only imagine the pleasure this will bring with careful aging. Dusty and cocoa-like tannins coat the mouth in what seems a fine spray that dries out ever so slowly. Another impressive Shiraz from this ever-reliable producer.
