Unwooded Chardonnay has become a rarity compared to a decade ago. This release from Geographe's Smallwater Estate works well. It's an easy, fresh, uncomplicated wine sure to please.
Clean and fresh, citrus blossom, tropical fruits and golden apple aromas skip from the glass. There is some detail through the mid-palate courtesy of white fleshed stonefruit and honeyed tones - just enough to keep you enthused. But wines like this aren't about complexity, and for an easy go-to, it does the job well. It's nicely done.
