Made in the same manner as the Single Vineyard, the complicated geology of the vineyard adds to this wine's unique presence. Sitting on sandstone and ironstone, the vines are planted on a horseshoe contour 170m above, and to use a landmark, the site is located close to the Chapel Hill winery. One of the highest sites in McLaren Vale, the vineyard was previously owned by Hardy wines for 52years before Penny's Hill took over with its first vintage in 2022.
Fabulously structured, blue and purple fruit muse with ease. Cherry pips and strawberries build momentum with some tension ensuring it holds its shape fabulously. A touch of orange peel sits in the background with superfine spices swirling around the mouth. A fine textural appeal possesses a little grip with dry, emery board tannins having the last word. The drive, the purity, this is elite.
