Jimmy Watson winning winemaker Jeremy Nascimben has shifted camp to Mount Majura - haven't they snared themselves a gem! Canberra Riesling is not a common feature on this tasting bench so I was thrilled when this 2024 release arrived and it's a beauty!
Supercharged aromas explode from the glass. I barely poured the glass and the fragrance filling the immediate area was intoxicating. Little white flowers, lime juice and pith with an ever so slight hint of musk. Bath salts and bath powder aren't far from the action either - can we just review the aromas? They are elite.
Bone dry to taste, I'm in love. There is limestone in the soil composition and not surprisingly the minerally vibe it brings is evident. Green apples, more lime juice and a super fine sherbety tang have the last say before a whip-crack of acidity keeps all in check.
Beautiful drinking, this is a Riesling lover's delight. Embrace the freshness now or hold for a decade+. You choose.
