Oak driven on opening, there is a respectable volume about this Golden Grove Estate Chardonnay. It's a wine that flows with ease as it rolls around the mouth like a big ball of happiness.
Buttered popcorn, cashews, grilled peaches and white-fleshed nectarines kick things off with some green mango and glace pineapple flanking the edges. The impact of some new and three year old French oak is clear. Gingernut biscuit spice grips and sticks to a long and ever persistent finish with a lemony tang that eventually brings the mouth to water. This will hold good form over the medium term should you choose to tuck a few away. For me, I'm throwing this at some pork belly.
