From lower-yielding vines on heavier soils in the Hilltops region comes this Gundog Estate Hilltops No.1 Shiraz. Medium-bodied, it gets better the more air it breathes.
Black pepper spice is a consistent theme. Rubs of that Hilltops earthiness are evident too with a little suggestion of granite soil. It carries a sense of opulence with plums, blueberries and dark berry fruit driving the fruit profile as peppered steak and pan juices saunter about. The acid is pitched a bit high on opening leaving a lemony tang in its wake but this calms and it is more in sync on the second day of tasting. Give it a decant prior to drinking now or a sleep in a dark place and it will be better for it.
