I've bought a few Golden Grove Estate Mourvedres over the years and they get better with bottle age. I suspect I'll pick up a couple of these 2022s too - a great drink bristling with joy.
Give it some air and you're away. Violets and dried purple flowers skip from the glass with black cherries and blackberry compote. The granite soils on which it is grown show its hand with the addition of some iron filings and pencil shaving notes. Initially a little tense, the noose tightens as the acid and tannins entwine leading to a firm finish highlighted by dusty and gravelly tannins. But this all melted away over a few days of tasting - beautiful! A wine with a proven pedigree to age, give it some time and you'll be winning.
